Located at the slender southern end of Anna Maria Island, Bradenton Beach, FL, was originally Cortez Beach until the mid-1920s during the Florida land boom. It was incorporated with its new name in 1951.
The original wooden bridge connecting the island to Cortez was replaced with a more substantial concrete structure in 1957, which was a toll bridge until 1964.
