Hearing Assessment and Evaluation of Hearing Loss in Sarasota & Bradenton, FL

Are you or a loved one noticing signs of hearing loss such as mishearing words, or struggling to track a conversation? Don't wait to schedule a hearing test until your symptoms are unmanageable.

By getting your hearing checked early, by a hearing care professional, you can better control the severity of your symptoms and even prevent or slow further damage to your ears.

Because hearing loss can progress slowly, it may be difficult to notice subtle changes in your hearing ability. Undergoing hearing testing as part of your regular preventative healthcare means you can detect potential issues, leading to more options and better outcomes down the road.

At Gulf Gate Hearing Center, we follow the latest audiological best practices and utilize the latest equipment to ensure that you’re able to benefit from an advanced hearing evaluation that doesn’t just check if you have a hearing loss, but more importantly checks why you may be experiencing hearing challenges.

A diverse group of passionate professionals, each bringing unique skills and experiences to drive innovation and excellence in every project we undertake.

STEP ONE

STEP ONE

Consultation

Consultation

Our hearing assessment begins with a friendly discussion with a hearing expert, about you, your medical history, and any symptoms you may be experiencing relating. This gives our professionals a comprehensive understanding of your situation and helps us identify any genetic, medical or lifestyle factors that may be contributing to hearing loss. We can also answer any questions you may have about our tests, or hearing loss in general.

STEP TWO

Video Otoscope

The next step is a physical examination, in which our specialists use a tool called an otoscope to evaluate the ear canal for symptoms such as earwax, blockages or inflammation. This allows us to see if there are any physical obstructions that need to be removed and gives us a better understanding of your ear health.

Following the physical exam, we will conduct a series of hearing tests to determine whether you have hearing loss, as well as the level and type. Our professionals test each ear using tones of different frequencies and volumes, so that we have the most accurate understanding of your hearing capabilities.

Some of the hearing tests we may use, depending on the client, include: Pure Tone, Bone Conduction, Tympanometry, Multiple Speech Tests.

STEP FOUR

Results

Our primary goal is for you to be fully informed about your hearing health so that you can make the best decisions for you and your family moving forward. Once we have your test results, we will walk you through a chart called an audiogram, which shows your ability to hear at various volumes and frequencies. Each ear is represented separately on the chart, as hearing loss can sometimes occur asymmetrically. After reviewing your results, our team will recommend treatment options and answer any questions you may have.

The Gulf Gate Hearing Aid Center Difference: Steps We Take for Comprehensive Hearing Evaluations

We are committed to providing the highest levels of hearing evaluations. The approach we take is meticulous and personalized, ensuring that each aspect of your hearing health is thoroughly assessed. Here’s a detailed look at the steps we take during our comprehensive hearing assessments.

Comprehensive Discussion

This initial conversation with a hearing expert is crucial, as it helps us understand your overall health and any factors that may be affecting your hearing. This discussion aids in identifying potential causes of hearing loss and guiding appropriate treatment.

Visual Inspection of Ears

We start with a visual inspection to check for any conditions that might affect test accuracy, such as earwax buildup or damage to the ear canal.

Middle Ear Function Tests

These tests are essential for evaluating the movement of the eardrum and middle ear bones, helping to diagnose specific types of hearing loss.

Inner Ear Sensory Cell Screening

By screening the function of inner ear sensory cells, we can detect damage or dysfunction that may affect your ability to hear.

Hearing Level Measurements

We measure your hearing levels to determine the degree and configuration of your hearing loss, which is crucial for deciding on the best treatment options.

Speech Understanding Tests

These tests assess your ability to understand speech, an important component of your hearing ability in everyday situations.

Recommendations

Based on the comprehensive evaluation, we will provide personalized recommendations for treatment options. These may include hearing aids, cochlear implants, or other assistive listening devices, tailored to meet your specific hearing needs and goals.
