The Crosley Theater Presents: A Classic Crosley Christmas

At the Crosley Estate, join the Crosley Theater Players for a classic holiday favorite in Sarasota. There are two live performances: The Gift of the Magi, Belle’s Story, or A Visit from Saint Nick, followed by an interactive presentation of A Christmas Carol. The performances are rounded out with audience participation in caroling!

Deck the Halls at Ca’ d’Zan

At the world-famous Ringling Museum, take a self-guided tour through the famous mansion and check out the breathtaking 10-foot tall Christmas tree. For members, Deck the Halls at Ca’ d’Zan is included with the “Art After Five” admission fee.

Jazz at Two with the Sarasota Jazz Project Big Bad

Directed by George McClain, co-founder of the Sarasota Project Big Band, Jazz at Two is a merry celebration with local and visiting professional musicians. Enjoy the bombastic sound of big band music this holiday season.

Holidays Around the Ranch on Main Street at Lakewood Ranch

December 14, 6pm to 9pm. Free admission to the public. Main Street, Lakewood Ranch, FL

Fun for the entire family awaits at this outdoor holiday celebration. For adults and children alike, there are crafts at Santa’s Workshop, the Choo Choo Express, and Santa’s big entrance in a white horse-drawn carriage. Don’t miss the lighting of the exquisite Christmas tree and be sure to have a whirl on the acrylic ice rink!

The Venice Symphony Holiday Concert

December 14-15, 3 performances, 3:30pm or 7:30pm. The Venice Performance Arts Center, One Indian Avenue, Venice, FL

Take in the sounds of the holidays with the Venice Symphony, conducted by guest conductor Steven Jarvi. With Hanukkah and Christmas music, alongside classics from The Nutcracker and “Feliz Navidad,” this performance shares festive music from around the world. Along with guest vocalist Johanna Fincher, there is a traditional sing-a-long caroling session for the entire family!

Festive Film Events around Town

Are you a cinephile? Love the heartwarming feeling of holiday movies? There are many different film events around town this holiday season.

At the Country Christmas at Hunsader Farms, there is a big screen to screen outdoor Christmas movies, from December 21 to December 23 (6-10pm). On December 15, check out the Moonlight Movies at the Beach series, organized by the Sarasota Film Festival and Sarasota County. This year, they’ll be screening the favorite Elf – bring your blanket and snacks to Siesta Key Beach to enjoy this free viewing, which begins after sunset!

Enjoying the Cosmos

While Cape Canaveral, FL is the launch pad of NASA, we’re no slouches when it comes to space exploration here in Sarasota.

As we near the longest night of the year, what better time than to see what the heavens offer? On December 15, join the Deep Sky Observers for a sunset public viewing to catch a glimpse of the cosmos. Located at Celery Fields / Sarasota Audubon. The Celery Fields, 6893 Palmer Blvd, Sarasota, FL (look for the telescopes set up in the parking lot!).

This holiday season, the South Florida Museum’s astronomers explore the question What is the Star of Bethlehem? using the Planetarium’s latest technology. Howard Hochhalter takes you on a time travel journey 2,000 years into the past to Jerusalem to explore the night skies.
